A secure energy supply represents the fundation for wealth in a better world. Coming from the insight, that only renewable energy allows the well being of our planet, we are developing much more efficient wind energy systems for the needs of the future.


Today's wind turbines supply their rated output less than a quarter of time. At inland sites the gondolas grow on expensive towers into the heights of more persistent winds. Offshore apart from the grid connection also the costs of the complex foundation push up the prices for environmentally friendly energy.


For the use of steady and strong winds above the hub heights of conventional wind-power plants onshore as well as offshore, kite wings offer a unique potential. The savings in the field of foundation, tower and blades are made possible by most modern control technology and efficient wing design. Wind energy from EnerKites one day could be more favourable than those from fossil fuels.

Wind-energy redefined

EnerKite is supported in the field of research and development with federal funds and regional funds of Brandenburg state.





EnerKites are novel wind energy plants, which at the end of the development shall produce energy at up to 90% of the time and work over 4000 hours per year on full load. This will be possible by the use of persisting and stronger winds at heights of 100 - 500 m. This technology is economical among other things by extremely efficient material use, best use of the airspace and small assembly and transport costs. The EnerKite team is leading in the field of reliable controls and efficient wings for kites. This was proven in practice already.

The way to facilities of the megawatt class leads across secured and also economically interesting intermediate steps: 30 - 300 kW plants for the mobile or stationary decentralized power supply. EnerKite plants unfold their whole strength in the future at offshore locations. Water depths, in which a foundation today seems to be difficult or impossible, can be developed easier for Enerkite plants, whose foundation does not have to take up considerable moments.

EnerKites will be working in two phases following the so-called reverse Yo-Yo concept. In the retraction phase the wing is flying cross-wind, pulling out the rope with optimal force and speed. In the recovery phase the wing is returning back to the starting point as fast and smooth as possible.

The ground-station allows to generate electrical power from the moment of retraction and to actuate the wing from the ground by use of differential drum drives.
